Clyde ranks 23rd in NBA history in scoring with 19,784 career points and is 4th in NBA history in NBA steals with 1,962. Clyde was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004. Clyde was a member of the Houston Rockets NBA Championship team of 1995 and played with the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA Finals in 1990 and 1992. Clyde was named to the All-NBA First Team in 1992 and was selected to play in the NBA All-Star Game nine times (1986, 1988-1994, 1996). Clyde was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round as the fourteenth overall selection of the 1983 NBA draft and was traded by the Trail Blazers to the Houston Rockets on February 14, 1995. Clyde enrolled at the University of Houston in 1980 and, after leading the University of Houston Cougars as a member of the Cougars "Phi Slamma Jamma" team, led the Cougars into the Final Four. Clyde's college jersey #22, along with jersey #34 of his teammate Hakeem Olajuwon, was retired by the University of Houston on February 12, 1997.
